Friends of CIP meeting - 15 June 2007 Cathy held an introduction to Egyptian dance class at the June meeting of the Friends of the Centro Internacional de la Papa. It was held in Yanti's house, and she provided a lovely spread of food for the hungry dancers! There are more pictures in the June photo gallery |

| Cathy started her session with a 'baladi' performance to set the scene, followed by a short workshop introducing the main movements of the dance. We learnt fluid and percussive hip and arm movements, putting them to music and then finishing with a simple choreography incorporating what we had covered to a fun Egyptian pop song. | |
| We finished with a lovely group singing session, singing mainly Latin American songs, with Rene the guitarist from Yanti's group accompanying us. |

and Wulan Farewell Party - 23 June 2007 Yanti, Thomas, Jonathon and Norma, organised a party to say farewell to friends. Peruvians are big on parties so there is whole industry devoted to helping people have a good time. A big gazebo was erected in the garden and masses of food prepared. It is officially Winter here so guests at the party had to come prepared for the cold. Jonathan and Norma's son Paul played some excellent jazz with his jazz band followed by music from Yanti and the Indonesian Embassy Angklung Orchestra. Yanti also performed some wonderful traditional Indonesian dancing. The cold obviously gave the guests an appetite and everything got devoured in an amazingly short period of time. Dancing took over after the entertainment a nd the few hardcore devotees were still bopping away until past 3 in the morning. A great night was had by all. |

| Farewell Night Out - 28 June 2007 Our final night with friends before their departure to Germany and Australia. We went out for a meal at the chef school in La Molina. A night of fine food and company as well as some dancing to the live music.
